Erna Schmidt wohnten noch vor Kraan in Wintrup im gleichen Landhaus und hatten einen Vertrag beim wohlbekannten Ohr-Label, doch die LP-Aufnahmen kamen nicht zustande, weil gerade ihr Flötist ausgestiegen war. Jedenfalls waren sie damals eine gefragte Live-Gruppe, die für ihre ellenlangen Improvisationen nach Art von Cream oder Hendrix bekannt war. Einzelne Stücke dauerten bis zu einer Dreiviertelstunde, denn man stand meist vollgekifft auf der Bühne und spielte wild drauflos, oft auch mit Gastmusikern. Einige saubere Mitschnitte davon blieben erhalten, und so bastelte man daraus "Live ’69 -’71" zusammen. Für den Sammler wäre ein einzelner vollständiger Auftritt wohl schöner gewesen, doch die Gruppe wollte es so. Immerhin nach 30 Jahren nun doch noch die längst überfällige Veröffentlichung. Erna Schmidt were living near the village of Wintrup in a country house even before it also became the home of Kraan. They had a contract with the Ohr label, but the LP recordings didn’t come about because their flutist had just quit the band. Anyhow, they were a very popular live band, well-known for their incredibly long improvisations in the Cream and Hendrix vein. Some tracks would last up to three quarters of an hour, for on stage they were usually stoned, jamming away in a frenzy, often together with guest musicians. Some good-quality recordings of these gigs survived and were used for putting together "Live ’69 -’71". Collectors would probably have preferred to be offered one single, but complete, gig. However, the band wanted it that way. At any rate, now, 30 years later, here it is at last - a long overdue release. With 32-page colour booklet.
