Recht guter Artrock. Die fünf Bremer veröffentlichten ihre bisher noch wenig bekannte einzige LP in einer Auflage von 500 Stück. Nicht zu verwechseln mit der gleichnamigen Gruppe aus Oberursel. Mit Heft von 32 Seiten.

Rather good art rock. The five from Bremen released their only, still rather unknown, LP in an edition of 500. Not to be confused with the band of the same name, from the town of Oberursel. With colour booklet of 32 pages.

Galaxy aus Bremen wurden erst Ende der Neunziger wiederentdeckt und sind in Sammlerkreisen bisher wenig bekannt; denn ihre einzige LP, "Visions" (SST / PR 020978), hatte eine Auflage von nur 500 Stück, und selbst zu "Lebzeiten" führten sie in ihrer Heimatstadt ein Mauerblümchendasein, bei gerade mal 10-15 Auftritten insgesamt. Doch völlig zu Unrecht, denn ihre Platte ist mehr als gut gelungen, und bis auf das etwas alberne "Consequences" durchgehend ein Hörgenuß. Anklänge an Hawkwind sind unüberhörbar, und ein Schuß Artrock verträgt sich gut damit. Wer sich die Texte anhört, wird merken, daß sie größtenteils aus dem Bereich Science Fiction stammen. So werden auch Gruppenname, Plattentitel und Umschlagbild - eine verfremdete Milchstraße - verständlich. Nur zufällige Namensgleichheit besteht mit Galaxy aus Oberursel.

Galaxy from Bremen were not rediscovered until the late 1990s and are relatively unknown among collectors, which is no surprise as their only LP "Visions" of 1978 (SST / PR 020978) had a circulation of only 500 copies. Even during their "lifetime" they led a lonely wallflower existence in their hometown with just about 10 to 15 gigs. This is totally unjustified as their record is more than just good and sheer pleasure for the listener, except for the rather silly "Consequences". Certain Hawkwind quotations and a touch of art rock are the ingredients of a harmonious achievement. The lyrics are mostly taken from the world of science fiction, which explains the name of the band, the LP title and the cover artwork, a sort of alienated Milky Way. The fact that a band from Oberursel (LP / CD: "Nature’s clear well") has the same name, is purely co-incidental.
