1973 - 1975

Arktis aus Bonn nahmen in ihrem Übungsraum zahlreiche Stücke auf, von denen 1975 eine Auswahl als LP „Arktis tapes“ erschien. Nun einige weitere, mit Sängerin und meisterlicher E-Gitarre.

Arktis from Bonn recorded lots of songs and instrumentals in their home studio. A selection was released as the LP “Arktis tapes” in 1975, other tracks as CD “More Arktis tapes”. With master guitar and female vocals.

Arktis aus Bonn veröffentlichten zu Lebzeiten drei LPs: „Arktis“ von 1974, „Arktis tapes“ von 1975 und „On the rocks“ von 1976, letztere völlig „entklaust“. Die Bänder, aus denen die Stücke für „Arktis tapes“ ausgewählt worden waren, sind noch vorhanden und enthielten einiges mehr an gutem Material, das zum Teil seit 1999 auf der CD „More Arktis tapes“ und des weiteren jetzt auf „Last Arktis tapes“ zu hören ist. Dazu nun zwei Live-Stücke vom 30.5.1975 in der Beethovenhalle, gespielt im Rahmen der „1. Bonner Songwerkstatt“. Vier der elf CD-Stücke sind von Karin Töppig gesungen, die anderen instrumental. Es handelt sich teilweise um freie Improvisationen, und sie alle leben von der verspielten E-Gitarre. Die Bandbreite reicht vom fetzigen „Speed boogie“ bis zum achtzehnminütigen „Very progressive“, bei dem der Titel schon alles sagt.

In their days, Arktis from Bonn released three LPs: “Arktis” in 1974, “Arktis tapes” in 1975, and “On the rocks” in 1976. The tapes from which the tracks for “Arktis tapes” had been taken do still exist and hold still more good material, part of which can be heard on the 1999 CD “More Arktis tapes” and now on “Last Arktis tapes”. The latter includes two additional live tracks played in the Beethoven Hall on May 30th, 1975, within the event “1. Bonner Songwerkstatt” (“1st Bonn Song Workshop”). Four of the eleven CD tracks are sung by Karin Töppig, the other ones are instrumental pieces. They are partly free improvisations, and all of them are profiting by the flourished electric guitar, played by Klaus Blachut. The musical range covers various styles, from the hot “Speed boogie” to the 18-minute “Very progressive”, in which the title is self-explanatory.
