Die französische Dreimanngruppe Amphyrite spielte instrumentalen progressiven Rock mit E-Gitarre, Baß und Schlagzeug, ganz ohne Gesang, und erinnert etwas an die frühen Guru Guru. Ihre einzige LP - Auflage 200 Stück - wird heute mit 1000 € gehandelt.

The French trio Amphyrite played an entirely instrumental progressive rock with electric guitar, bass, and drums. Their only LP - only 200 copies were made - has a collectors' value of 1000 € now.

Die französische Dreimanngruppe Amphyrite kam aus Villefranche an der Saône, bei Lyon gelegen. Sie spielte instrumentalen progressiven Rock mit E-Gitarre, Baß und Schlagzeug, ganz ohne Gesang, und erinnert etwas an die frühen Guru Guru. Nicht ruhig und besinnlich wie Ash Ra Tempel; es ist ständig flackernde Bewegung in der Musik. Ihre einzige LP, "Amphyrite" (Les Disques Le Maintec Bernard KO/750707), erschien 1973 auf einem Kleinstlabel in einer Auflage von ganzen 200 Stück. Sie wird heute mit etwa 1000 € gehandelt und bei Hans Pokora mit der höchstmöglichen Wertung von sechs Einheiten aufgeführt. 2003 gab es eine rechtmäßige LP-Nachauflage auf Amber Soundroom - die 500 Stück sind längst vergriffen. Die CD hat ein dickes Heftchen mit langer Bandstory in deutsch, englisch und französisch, Label-Repros und einige Bandphotos.

Their sound, not calm and contemplative like Ash Ra Tempel, is in a constant flickering movement. Their one and only LP "Amphyrite" (Les Disques Le Maintec Bernard KO/750707) was released in 200 copies on a very small label in 1973. Today the LP has a collectors' value of 1000 €. Hans Pokora lists it with the highest possible rating of six units. In 2003, the LP was re-released legally on Amber Soundroom; the 500 copies are sold out since long. The CD here on hand has a substantial booklet in German, English, and French, with an extensive band story, including label repros and photographs of the band.
