East of Eden aus Bristol in England spielten anspruchsvollen progressiven Rock mit Saxophon, Geige und Flöte. Ihr einziger Hit, "Jig-a-jig", ist völlig untypisch für ihren Klang. Sie können auf eine Geschichte von immerhin elf Longplayern zurückblicken, von den vielen Zusammenstellungen ganz abgesehen. Am Donnerstag, dem 22.10.1970, trat die Gruppe beim 3. Essener Pop & Blues- Festival in der Gruga-Halle auf. Die Veranstaltung wurde halbprofessionell mitgeschnitten. Die Bönder konnten von den Veranstaltern erworben werden und wurden aufwendig im Studio nachbearbeitet. Trotzdem reicht der Klang natürlich nicht an die Studio-LPs heran. Das Insert enthält auf 12 Seiten neben einer langen Bandstory in deutsch und englisch, einer ausführlichen Diskographie, zahlreichen Cover- und Labelrepros sowie viel Material zum Festival auch einen persönlichen Rückblick von Dave Arbus. Allein schon deswegen ein Muß für Sammler. Die erste rechtmüßige Live-Veröffentlichung von East of Eden. Erscheint gleichzeitig als LP im Klappcover und als CD.

The band can look back on a history of eleven long-players, not counted the many compilations. On Thursday, 22nd October 1970, the group performed in the Gruga hall at the third Essen Pop & Blues Festival. The event was recorded semi-professionally by the promoters. The recordings were mastered now in a first-class sound studio with great effort and care. The sound, however, is naturally not as good as that of the studio LPs. The 12-page insert contains a long band history in German and English, a detailed discography, numerous cover and label repros, many infos about the festival as well as a personal retrospective report by Dave Arbus. A must for collectors. It is the first legitimate release of an East of Eden live recording and comes both as LP in gatefold cover and as CD.
